So you want to know a bit about me? I'm not a newbie to the world of video. Making videos to tell a story is what I've been doing for most of my career as a journalist, and now as a freelance videographer and cameraman.
My career began around 25 years ago in local newspapers and from there I moved to the BBC as a reporter.
My time as a journalist means I have an ear and an eye for a story – specifically your story. I'll help you tell it. TV news tells a story quickly and concisely and that's exactly what I'll help you do with your video.
And these are the same skills I bring to my photography - every picture tells a story.
During my time at the BBC I worked at Westminster as a parliamentary correspondent and in Cardiff as a 'shoot-edit' and lighting cameraman. I went on to be a producer, working with some big names... President Clinton at the Oval Office in Washington was a career highlight. I've also interviewed Tony Blair, Margaret Thatcher and, more recently, I have made hundreds of films for The One Show and produced and worked on numerous current affairs programmes for The BBC, including Panorama.
I'm based near Crickhowell in South Wales and I work in Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, Aberystwyth, Brecon, Abergavenny, Hereford, Gloucester, Bristol and the surrounding areas. Most places are within an hour's drive and I have a van in which I can edit on location.
I travel light with all my own kit – including Sony FS5 and PMW200 XDCAM camcorders, full sound and lighting kit. I edit on AVID Media Composer.
Because I'm a trained journalist with extensive reporting experience, I can shoot, edit and interview as required. Being a 'one-man band' means I'm flexible and affordable as well as highly experienced. Find out more about who I've worked with and get in touch for a quote today.
Video is where your customers are. YouTube is the second biggest search engine in the world and it has more than a billion users worldwide, so having a video to explain what what you do makes total sense.
The trick is to make short films which are user-friendly and snappy – think bite-sized chunks of video for use on your website and social media. It won't slow your website down, it will grab people who are short of time and it will be easy to share on social media.
